Members passing:

We are saddened to let everyone know that Life Time member Norma Hankock recently passed away.

Our hearts  go out to the Mike and the rest of the Family.

A message from the (new) President

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for honouring me and my family for allowing me to serve as your president for the next two years, I will do my very best!

We have a lot of challenges and opportunities in the coming year that we need to attend to. The Chimney fell down during the snow storms we need to Chink the walls and many other things.

In hard times we can pull together as an extended family and put on events that cost less but are still at least twice as fun, I would love to see more potlucks, maybe movie nights with Pizza, or maybe a pellet gun tournament? If you have ideas let me know!

We have many exiting events coming this year:

  •  Next up is of course the Banquet on March 14th, Call Mike Hankock if you need tickets - there are only a few left!

  •  At Easter we will have the first inaugural Terry Oulten Memorial Fishing Derby, Poster coming soon, call Wally for tickets and information!

My hope is that we can focus on three things during my presidency:

  •  Youth - We need to get our Youth activated and interested in our outdoor sports

  •  Utilize the clubhouse and grounds - we have wonderful facilities - lets use them more!

  •  And finally to activate our membership - we have so many members that rarely come, what a shame, you are missing out!

Thank you all once again! And - See you at the club, next meeting is on March 11 and we have a great and interesting program - details to follow soon!

Yours in Conservation

Andreas

Kristen and Leigha were presented with the "Youth Achievement Award" during the Kids Fishing Derby in May.  Congratulations Girls! Thank you for your dedication and hard work. Bill Bergen, our trophy master presided over the ceremony...

KURT SCHUMAKER

 Wilderness Watch, B.C.W.F. CHAIRPERSON

PASSES AWAY.

It is with great sadness that we inform you of Kurt Schumakers' passing.  Kurt was the Provincial Wilderness Watch Chairperson for BCWF.  Kurt and his wife recently came over to Duncan and sat in on the poaching trial, specifically to show support for us. Kurt was instrumental in initiating several Wilderness Watch Programs throughout the Province, as well as supporting them.  Kurt was always counted on in getting our W.W. Reports into the Outdoor Edge Magazine.

Kurt will be sadly missed, his role within the BCWF and Wilderness Watch will be hard to replace.  On behalf of the Valley Fish and Game Club we would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to Kurt's family.
